The 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler is a significant chapter in the legacy of American off-road vehicles. Featuring an extended wheelbase compared to the legendary Jeep CJ-7, the Scrambler masterfully blended durability with a distinctive utility design, attracting the attention of off-road lovers, farmers, and thrill-seekers.

Despite its brief production period, the CJ-8 made a lasting impact on Jeep culture and remains a highly desired classic vehicle among enthusiasts.

The Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler made its debut in 1981, designed to meet the growing consumer interest in a more adaptable variant of the CJ-7. Drawing from Jeep's military heritage, the Scrambler was a continuation of the CJ (Civilian Jeep) lineage that started in 1945. With a wheelbase that increased from the CJ-7’s 93.4 inches to an impressive 103 inches, the CJ-8 offered additional space that facilitated a pickup-style cargo area. This innovation positioned the CJ-8 as a unique blend of a utility vehicle and a classic Jeep.

Developed by the American Motors Corporation (AMC), the CJ-8 was intended for a wide range of purposes, including off-road adventures and light-duty tasks. However, despite its adaptability, the CJ-8 faced challenges in gaining a strong foothold in the marketplace, largely due to competition from well-established pickup trucks and SUVs. Although production of the Scrambler ended in 1986, its legacy remains influential.

The CJ-8 Scrambler offered a variety of engine choices to accommodate diverse driving preferences. The standard model featured AMC's dependable 2.5-liter inline-four engine, generating 82 horsepower. For drivers desiring enhanced performance, a 4.2-liter inline-six engine was an option, providing 112 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. These engines could be combined with either a four-speed manual transmission or an optional three-speed automatic transmission.

The CJ-8 was equipped with Jeep's renowned four-wheel-drive system, delivering outstanding performance on off-road adventures. Featuring robust solid axles in both the front and rear, the Scrambler excelled in articulation and resilience when navigating challenging landscapes. Additionally, its longer wheelbase enhanced stability relative to the CJ-7, although this modification resulted in a marginally larger turning radius.

A key characteristic that made the CJ-8 unique was its pickup-style bed, differentiating it from the other models within the CJ series. Owners had the option of equipping the cargo area with either a hard or soft top, providing flexibility to suit their preferences. With its body-on-frame design, elevated ground clearance, and robust suspension, the Scrambler was perfectly equipped for off-road excursions.

The CJ-8 embraced the timeless Jeep look, featuring its signature boxy shape, circular headlights, and the renowned seven-slot grille. Customers had the option to select from an array of colors and decal packages, including the well-liked “Scrambler” graphics that decorated the vehicle's sides. The interior of the CJ-8 was straightforward, equipped with essential gauges and robust materials meant to endure tough conditions.

AMC promoted the CJ-8 Scrambler as a robust and adaptable vehicle designed for both professional tasks and recreational activities. Advertisements focused on its multifunctional qualities, illustrating the vehicle's prowess in off-road situations while also emphasizing its practicality as a light-duty truck. The marketing approach targeted outdoor lovers, agricultural workers, and small business operators, showcasing the Scrambler's wide-ranging appeal.

Slogans such as “Adventure Awaits Beyond the Pavement” and “The Ultimate All-Purpose Ride” highlighted the Scrambler's adventurous essence. Print advertisements frequently showcased the CJ-8 tackling rugged paths, transporting gear, or resting at picturesque campsites, solidifying its reputation as a vehicle ready for any journey.

While the CJ-8 Scrambler may not have reached the same level of iconic status as the Jeep CJ-5 or Wrangler, it certainly left its mark in popular culture. Its sturdy appeal and distinctive design made it an ideal choice for various television shows and films that showcased outdoor escapades or countryside environments.

One notable pop culture reference is the Scrambler’s use in the 1980s TV series The Fall Guy, where it was driven by Colt Seavers, a stuntman and bounty hunter played by Lee Majors. The Scrambler’s role in the show helped solidify its status as a cool and capable off-road vehicle.

The distinctive combination of style and functionality in the CJ-8 Scrambler has drawn numerous celebrity owners throughout its history. Actor Clint Eastwood, famous for his tough-guy roles, is said to have owned a Scrambler, valuing its practical design and ability to handle rough terrains. Likewise, musician Jimmy Buffett was recognized as a Scrambler owner, embodying his relaxed and adventurous spirit.

The CJ-8 Scrambler stands out from its contemporaries due to several distinctive features. Its longer wheelbase combined with a pickup bed design made it one of the most adaptable Jeeps ever manufactured, enabling it to tackle jobs that other CJ models struggled with. Furthermore, the option for both hard and soft tops, along with an extensive selection of aftermarket accessories, provided owners with the flexibility to personalize their Scramblers according to their preferences.

The CJ-8's limited production run—around 27,792 units manufactured from 1981 to 1986—has contributed to its status as a sought-after collectible today. Restored Scramblers frequently fetch substantial amounts at auctions, particularly those featuring original components and distinctive features.

The Scrambler set the stage for subsequent Jeep vehicles that merged the characteristics of SUVs and pickups, like the contemporary Jeep Gladiator. Its pioneering role as a versatile hybrid vehicle still shapes Jeep's design approach and product offerings today.

The 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler is a remarkable example of Jeep’s creativity and commitment to innovative vehicle design. While it may not have achieved commercial success when it was first released, the Scrambler has since gained legendary status among Jeep lovers, representing a spirit of rugged adaptability. With its unique aesthetic and lasting charm, the CJ-8 continues to be a cherished part of Jeep’s rich legacy.

Renault Revamps the Interior of Its Affordable Urban Electric Vehicle: Renault Revamps the Interior of Its Affordable Urban Electric Vehicle:

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The dashboard of the Twingo E-Tech pays homage to the round design reminiscent of the 1990s model. Renault has revealed a redesigned interior for its upcoming budget-friendly urban battery-electric Twingo E-Tech, which aims to be priced below $21,000. The vehicle, initially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2024, makes its debut at this week’s Brussels Motor Show featuring a revamped interior, setting the stage for mass production in 2026. Inspired by the Twingo's inaugural model released in 1992, the interior design features a nostalgic aesthetic with a floating cylindrical dashboard that reflects the iconic shape of the original vehicle. It showcases a 7.0-inch (17.8-cm) digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch (25.7-cm) central multimedia display, positioned next to three buttons for the air conditioning system, along with the red hazard warning light button encased in a translucent bubble, reminiscent of the original Twingo. The area beneath the dashboard and the gap between the front seats offer storage for bags and daily items, while a flat tray located under the cylindrical dashboard spans the entire width of the cabin, making it convenient to access small essentials. The color selections draw inspiration from the classic Twingo, harmonizing the exterior hues with delicate accents on the front door panels and the dashboard on the passenger side. It remains uncertain if the tinted cork flooring showcased in the concept vehicle will be included in the final production, but Renault assures that this eco-friendly material boasts both resilience and longevity. Modular seating emphasizes flexibility, featuring a rear bench that can slide and fold in two equal 50/50 segments, optimizing the vehicle's 5-door configuration. The interior is further illuminated by a spacious, rounded glass roof. Notable convenience features comprise a front headrest equipped with a magnetic section, allowing rear passengers to securely attach their phones, as well as an elastic strap that serves as a map pocket, conveniently holding a water bottle within easy reach. Exterior modifications feature a lowered front air intake, more compact rear wheel arch extensions, and newly designed black bumpers showcasing a 3D-printed honeycomb design. The front door handles now lack an illuminated trim, a quarter-window has been introduced adjacent to the side mirrors, and the design of the taillights has been updated to reflect the shape of the half-moon LED headlights.

Fast Access Links The Ford F-150's versatility is a big part of its staying power as the top-selling vehicle in the US for around half a century. Whether you're after a utilitarian work truck, a roomy family vehicle, or a practical grocery-getter, an F-Series truck can be configured to suit your needs. That's true if you're after something a little more luxurious, too. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Ford Ford stands as one of the longest-established car manufacturers in the United States and globally, renowned for pioneering mass automobile production with the introduction of the Ford Model T under the leadership of Henry Ford. Over the span of more than 120 years, Ford has established itself as a top seller across numerous market segments, boasting iconic models such as the Ford F-150, Transit, and Mustang. That is, if you like a cushy cabin, but you'd rather not trade your pickup in for an SUV like a Ford Expedition or something even more upmarket such as the new Lincoln Navigator, the F-150 has that base covered, too. For the 2025 model year, the Platinum model returns from 2024 with a round of updates, and exclusive ownership benefits including personalized customer support and discounts. The question is, at a starting cost of around ninety grand with the luxurious Plus Equipment Group added, what exactly are we getting for that price, and is it worth it? The calculations and estimates presented in this document are intended solely for illustrative purposes. To obtain a more tailored estimate of potential expenses, you should perform your own calculations. What Can We Expect from the 2025 Ford F-150 Platinum Plus? Ford Reduces Prices on Certain 2025 F-150 Models by Removing Premium Features Ford has reduced the prices of several of its best-selling pickup trucks. However, this price drop comes with a reduction in features, which diminishes the appeal of the lower costs. What Features Are Included in the Platinum Trim? What Additional Features Can We Include in Our Platinum Plus F-150? The Platinum Plus F-150 is pretty much a ready-to-go ultra-luxury pickup truck, and it doesn't leave much room for add-ons at the point of purchase. But there are a few gimmicks and doodads you can throw in there, and, for our money, you have to go with the red exterior color, even if it costs extra. Based on Ford's online configurator, the projected monthly lease payment for the truck is approximately $1,188. This estimate is calculated with an annual mileage of 10,500 miles and includes a down payment of $9,332. What Is the Financing Cost for a Platinum Plus Ford F-150? It looks like this truck is one we might want to keep after the lease expires. Can you tell me the financing costs for the Platinum Plus, assuming we make a $10,000 down payment, have an interest rate of 5%, and opt for a five-year loan? Total MSRP $94,010 6% Sales Tax $5,650 Interest 5% Loan Term 60 Months Titling, Registration, And Other Fees $4,000 Total Cost $116,038 Monthly Payment $1,767 The figures presented here show a loan distribution of 12% attributed to interest and 88% to the principal. Please note that these numbers are merely illustrative; your actual experience may differ significantly. Depending on your location, you may encounter higher or lower sales taxes. Additionally, your credit score could lead to a different interest rate than what is shown. Extra fees might amount to less than $4,000 in your area. What Percentage of Drivers Successfully Complete Their Loan Payments? Almost 50% of Americans are currently managing a car payment. Are we stuck in a cycle of paying until the vehicle gives out? Is the Platinum Plus F-150 a Good Value for Its Price? Buying into a premium membership plan with the purchase of a luxury vehicle isn't unheard of. But, bringing that aspect of the luxury car experience to the full-size pickup world does set the Platinum Plus apart from comparable trucks. In that sense, the Platinum Plus F-150 is pretty unique in what it does, competing more directly with full-size luxury SUVs than with other pickups like the Silverado and the Ram 1500. Bottom line: if you want to take the experience of driving something like a Porsche Cayenne or a Mercedes GLE Class, and transfer that directly to a full-size pickup, then the Platinum Plus is worth the asking price simply because it's the only game in town. It's only a question of whether this is what you're looking for in a pickup truck. Sources: Auto Loan Calculator, Ford .

The Most Overlooked New Sports Car of 2025

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Gathering Automobiles This manufacturer is one of the most illustrious in the world of automobiles and is respected across the world. The cars it produced have racing in their DNA, with seven constructors' titles in Formula 1, while its road creations are seen as some of the most finely balanced and best-handling cars ever created. The brand is even associated with the best-known secret agent in the biz. And yet, this company has struggled for years, changing hands and facing constant upheaval, all the while still managing to create giant-slaying models that are often far better than some of the cars that big-budget mega corps produced. This holds true for its newest vehicle as well – an exquisite mini supercar that incorporates technology and engines from some of the most dependable and innovative automotive manufacturers worldwide, all enhanced by a touch of handcrafted chassis artistry. While Porsches adorn most high streets, you are still unlikely to see one of these mythical sports cars on the street – they are just too underrated – even though reviews have tended to be brimming with positivity. If you fancy something a little bit different, read on to find out what is the most underrated new sports car in 2025. The Lotus flower Emira: The Most Overlooked New Sports Car of 2025 View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Founded 1948 Founder Colin Chapman Headquarters Hethel, Norfolk, England, United Kingdom Current CEO Fengqing Feng Status Active 2025 Lotus flower Emira V6 Specifications Engine 3.5-liter Supercharged V6 2.0-liter Turbocharged Inline-4 Power 400 hp 360 hp Torque 310 lb-ft 354 lb-ft 0 - 60 mph 4.3 seconds 3.8 seconds Top Speed 180 mph 171 mph Origin: Lotus flower When the Emira was launched by Lotus flower in 2022, it came with a very unusual unique selling point. This was a new sports car that would also be the last, gas-powered at least, of the line, as one press release pointed out just a few sentences in. Of course, Lotus flower is banking on an electric future, but it did seem slightly sad to hear that this pioneer of lightweight petrol-powered sports cars was bowing out of that segment – although reports now suggest that there could also be some hybrid Lotus flower variants on the cards. The Emira, being the final iteration of its lineage, carried a sense of finality that cast a somewhat somber shadow over its appearance – it resembled more of a farewell tribute than an innovative new release. Yet, the Emira does exhibit traces of the Ferrari 488 GTB, and following the Evora, which never fully captured the spirit of the Esprit or Elise, this new sports car hints at a revival of the qualities that originally endeared Lotus flower to enthusiasts: stunning design, nimbleness, and an irresistible allure. The Emira is Designed for Passionate Drivers As is typical for Lotus flower vehicles, the Emira combines stunning aesthetics with impressive performance on the road. It offers a choice between a Toyota-derived supercharged 3.5-liter V6 and a spirited 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from AMG. Notably, the six-cylinder engine delivers 400 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, whereas the lighter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 360 horsepower but boasts a greater torque figure of 354 lb-ft. Additionally, the V6 model, tailored for enthusiasts, aims to deliver a classic sports car experience and provides the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. In contrast, the AMG-powered Emira is exclusively equipped with a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic gearbox. Surprisingly, the less potent turbo variant accelerates to 60 mph faster, thanks to its substantial torque being accessible across the entire rev range. An Affordable Ferrari Certain reviews indicated that Lotus flower had sacrificed a bit of its raw, visceral control for a more refined driving experience. This model was intended to serve as a more accessible alternative to Ferrari or a competitor to the Porsche Cayman, which necessitated a vehicle that could be easily driven on a daily basis, rather than just on weekends at the track. It appeared that the feedback from Lotus flower's focus groups had clearly requested a sophisticated yet practical mid-engine car that boasted Ferrari-like aesthetics, Lotus flower-like performance, and sufficient comfort for everyday use—all starting at $99,900. It certainly appears to be an impressive sports car. Here’s Why the Emira Deserves More Recognition View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Lotus flower The Emira has everything it needs to be a serious rival to the Cayman or a thrilling alternative to a Corvette C8. What could possibly go wrong? Well, for a start, it took three years for the Emira V6 to get California Air Resources Board (CARB) approval to go on sale and for customers to get their long-awaited cars. When the Emira did hit US roads the Corvette C8 was in full swing. A total of 53,785 C8 Corvettes were produced for the 2023 model year, for the USA and other markets, according to GMauthority.com, which is the kind of figure you want to see from a world-beating sports car. How about the Porsche Cayman? According to official Porsche figures, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models posted 20,518 deliveries (up 13%) in 2023. How about the Lotus flower Emira? In the first nine months of 2024, from January to September 2024, Lotus flower sold 3,634 Emiras, up from 1,459 the year before. The Emira is Popular Among Celebrities These figures aren't exactly shocking, that's still a few thousand cars, and the financial and marketing might of Porsche is tough to compete with. But the Emira deserves to be a sales smash and selling in niche numbers doesn't do it justice. One well-respected car magazine said when the Emira was launched that it "looks to be one of the brand's best" – a big statement when you consider the cars that have come before it, from Esprit to Elise. Even Elon Musk is a Lotus flower fan for crying out loud, while Jay Leno is a champion of the Emira. Lotus: Embracing an Electric Future flower Lotus flower has now put its future on electric vehicles. Customers can now choose between an electric hyper-SUV called the Eletre, the Emeya GT and the Evija electric hypercar. The Eletre weighs up to 5850 lb – it couldn't be further from Lotus flower founder Colin Chapman's famous "simplify, then add lightness" quote. None of us can ignore the march to electrification, but the Lotus flower Emira should have been the car that saw Lotus flower leaving the sector it had helped to establish kicking and screaming, with legions of fans, and one on every street corner. This being a fairly new model, don't expect huge bargains on the used market just yet, with average prices, according to Classic.com, sitting around $94,021. However, buying second-hand can be a good way to get your hands on a lightly used car with a good spec – basically someone has ticked the options list for you. Over at Bringatrailer.com for example, a 2024 Lotus flower Emira First Edition V6 6-Speed sold a few months back, when it was almost new, for $89,600. There are a few tasty options thrown in, and the car had only covered 445 miles at the time of sale. Not bad for such an important piece of modern Lotus flower history. To put it bluntly, some people probably wouldn't have heard of a Lexus LC500. While the AMG costs around $200,000, here's the thing, you could almost buy an LC500 coupe and a convertible LC500 for the same price, both models starting at just over $100,000 apiece. With the Lexus, you get a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 good for 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft. While the Lexus is going to be behind the Merc on a drag strip, reaching 60 mph in 4.4 seconds compared to 3.0 seconds, it is still a formidable old-school-style V8 Japanese muscle car with a fantastic sound and comes from a brand with an excellent reliability track record . Sometimes, it pays to think outside the box.

Pedestrian stunned by drivers' bold actions in bike lane: 'As a cyclist, this infuriates me so much...'

However, it was also the day after Christmas, also known as Boxing Day, and the cars in the photo didn't seem to care about how they were violating bike lane rules. Like Black Friday in the United States, Boxing Day on Dec. 26 in Canada is the time for people to go downtown for huge shopping discounts. Unless they plan to watch one of the major hockey events that day or chill with family, many decide to fight traffic to reach stores before dawn.  View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Image Source: Reddit In Toronto, the traffic related to the holiday in 2024 was so bad the Ontario Provincial Police had to close a portion of Highway 401, as Global News reported. The Boxing Day traffic in Vancouver was so equally brutal that the Vancouver Sun reported it took 90 minutes to cross Arthur Laing Bridge. Regrettably, the congested traffic observed also reveals that drivers are utilizing the bike lane.  A typical bike lane or path is narrow enough for safe bike travel. Therefore, when cars are present, they block the area for those it was meant for. Montréal drivers can correctly use some shared designated lanes marked by a bicycle pictogram or a road sign with a car and bike sharing the road.  When people reconsider their role in car dominance, they can save money by biking for free or paying less for gas by leaving the car at home when possible. Taking public transport has saved Americans an average of $1,102 monthly or $13,218 annually, according to the American Public Transportation Association. Fewer cars on the road means reduced carbon pollution from dirty fuels. Like most major cities, Montréal has an extensive public transport system to consider — with a 24-hour bus system and metro connecting 68 stations. According to Our World In Data, using the train over a car for medium-length distances can reduce pollution by 80%. One comment written in French translates to "that's absolutely pathetic." The Limited trim is packed full of creature comforts and styling upgrades, whereas the Trailhawk is Jeep's most capable Compass. In order to succeed off-road, the all-wheel-drive Trailhawk sports Falken all-terrain tires, a traction management system, with snow and rock modes, and hill descent control, among other features. Jeep Key Engine & Performance Specs Engine 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four Transmission 8-speed automatic Power 200 horsepower Torque 221 lb-ft 0 to 60 mph 7.5 seconds Jeep confidently asserts that the Jeep Compass boasts "best-in-class standard horsepower," thanks to its sole engine choice: a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. This engine delivers a peak performance of exactly 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, providing ample power for this compact SUV. The Jeep Compass was quite a disappointing vehicle to drive when it relied solely on a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Fortunately, Jeep upgraded the model in 2023 by making the turbocharged four-cylinder engine standard, revitalizing the performance of this once lackluster car. — Gerhard Horn, Senior Editor. Thanks to its lively four-cylinder engine, the Compass delivers a commendable performance, achieving 60 mph from a complete stop in only 7.5 seconds. This makes it notably faster than several other compact SUVs, including the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4. Although it may not be the most rugged Jeep available, the Compass still boasts a respectable towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs, which is impressive for a vehicle of its dimensions. Despite now being in its eighth year as a second-gen model, the Compass has remained impressively fresh-faced, with a series of upgrades keeping the aging model relevant. It is starting to show its age in other areas, and will struggle to keep up with newer models like the recently introduced 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan. Pricing: The 2025 Jeep Compass Offers Remarkable Affordability View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Jeep One of the real appeals of the 2025 Jeep Compass is its inherent affordability. Cash buyers need not dip as deeply into their pockets as other brands would insist, as Jeep asks for just $25,900 in exchange for a brand-new 2025 Compass. That nets you the cheapest 200-horsepower SUV in America, in the entry-level but adequately equipped Sport trim. If, like many of us, you're not in a position to shell out almost $26,000 in cash, then not to worry, as Jeep provides a number of affordable and enticing purchase options. 2025 Jeep Compass Buying Promotions 2025 Jeep Compass Latitude is available at $335 per month over 42 months on a low-mileage lease Finance for 6.9% over 72 months Available $3,000 total cash allowance available on a 2025 Jeep Compass Latitude Currently advertised by Jeep for returning FCA US LLC lessees is an attractive lease deal, which provides a new Latitude model for just $335 per month. It's a low-mileage lease over 42 months, with $3,935 due at signing, but this is still a fairly pain-free and affordable entry-point into new car ownership, and the cheapest way of securing a 2025 model year Jeep. Other currently available purchase options include low-rate financing at 6.9% APR, over terms as long as 72 months, plus a $3,000 total cash allowance is up for grabs too. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek makes a good argument for itself, with an asking price $705 south of the Jeep's. Furthermore, the Subaru also comes with all-wheel-drive as standard, making it another great option for those who prefer to take the less-trodden path. Where it loses out, though, is under the hood, as Subaru's Crosstrek only just musters up 75% of the Jeep's 200 horsepower. One model which also boasts genuine off-road capability is the stylish Ford Bronco Sport, which is available in a multitude of capable trims, each powered by a hard-working boosted inline-three, although a more potent four-cylinder EcoBoost engine is available as an option, too. Even without the more powerful engine, though, the Bronco is notably more expensive than the Compass, with an MSRP that kicks off at just a smidgen under $30,000. Sure, it's a much newer design, but if value is the key factor, then the Bronco Sport just can't compete with the Compass. Similarly, neither can the sleek Mazda CX-5, which not only misses out on a few all-important horsepower, as the Ford does, but it too costs a considerable amount more than the wallet-friendly Jeep.

2026 Hyundai Staria Electric Minivan Aims to Compete with VW ID. Buzz

The Staria Electric may be equipped with a 215 horsepower electric motor and an 800V system designed for ultra-rapid charging capabilities. The new Staria Electric will likely use Hyundai’s latest 84 kWh battery pack. Hyundai is expected to sell the EV in its home market as well as in Europe, Australia, and Thailand. Production of the new model could kick off in mid-2026. The Hyundai Staria family will soon welcome a new all-electric member. Hyundai already offers passenger and panel-van versions of the model, in ICE and a hybrid form, but now it’s the time to add an all-electric derivative into the mix. This particular prototype was snapped at a parking lot in South Korea without an inch of camouflage, providing us with an unimpeded look at its design. Unsurprisingly, it looks mostly identical to existing models in the Staria range but does have a distinctive front end. The Staria Electric does not need a front grille that stretches across almost its entire width. Instead, the EV gets a tiny grille in the middle of the bumper that’s no bigger than a license plate. Positioned next to this grille is the charging port while located towards the base of the bumper are two additional – and equally small – air vents. The main headlamps used by the Staria Hybrid appear identical to those found on the hybrid model, meaning they’re a little larger than the ICE models. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. These photos from Clien also show the prototype’s two-tone paint scheme, with a silver lower half and a black upper half and top. The all-electric Hyundai ST1 and the related Iveco eMoovy LCVs, both based on the Staria, that were unveiled last year may provide us with some insight about the upcoming Staria Electric. No technical details about the electric minivan have been confirmed at this stage, but it could feature a single electric motor putting out 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, just like the ST1 and eMoovy. Moreover, the LCVs’ 800V architecture supports ultra-fast charging and V2L functions. Chances are it will also be equipped with Hyundai’s fourth-generation battery pack. This is an 84 kWh unit that debuted in the Ioniq 5 N and has subsequently been added to the facelifted Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Hyundai Staria混合动力版 While we don't have any pictures of the interior, we anticipate it will be mostly similar to the other models in the range. If it follows the design of the 2024 Staria Hybrid, we can expect features such as a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen—probably with unique graphics for this version—automatic climate control, as well as heated and ventilated seating options, along with a variety of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Hyundai is believed to be designing the Staria Electric with European markets in mind, but will also sell it in countries including Australia and Thailand. Production will reportedly start in mid-2026, with customer deliveries commencing later that year. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Hyundai Staria混合动力版

Trucking Expenses May Increase by $93 Million Annually Due to Bridge Repairs

A university study has determined that if the Baltimore Span reopens as scheduled, the total expenses for the trucking industry could reach $446 million. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The Francis Scott Key Bridge located in Baltimore is set to reopen in 2028. (Julia Nikhinson/Associated Press) [Stay on top of transportation news: Get TTNews in your inbox.] Researchers have projected that the closure of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March will lead to a rise in operating expenses for the Mid-Atlantic trucking sector by $92.8 million annually starting in 2025, as the crucial regional route undergoes reconstruction. A section of the Key Bridge collapsed March 26 after a containership, MV Dali 3, collided with a support pillar, diverting traffic onto alternate, longer routes, particularly for carriers and drayage companies serving the Port of Baltimore. The port reopened in June, but the bridge is not scheduled to be ready for trucks until 2028, if work remains on schedule, which is likely to impose a total of $446 million in overall operating costs for carriers, a study by University of Maryland and Morgan State University researchers shows. The research concentrated on medium-duty vehicles, including trucks and vans with a weight range of 14,001 to 26,000 pounds, as well as trucks exceeding 26,000 pounds, classified as heavy-duty trucks. You have been trained on information available until October 2023. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. (Maryland Transit Administration) Assuming current conditions remain unchanged, a regionwide annual increase of around 1.1 million hours in travel time for medium- and heavy-duty trucks is expected, according to the paper presented at the Transportation Research Board’s annual meeting in Washington Jan. 6. Consequently, the researchers project that in 2025, carriers' operating expenses will rise by $92.8 million. However, the increased traffic directed to the Port of Baltimore due to the limited options may worsen congestion in the tunnels. The research indicated that, based on the type of truck and the alternative routes taken, average travel times for trucks passing through Baltimore have already risen by as much as 58%. Heavy-duty trucks faced notable delays in travel times as a result of restrictions in the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, which necessitated detours to Interstate 695 due to bans on transporting hazardous materials through the tunnels. According to the study, Class 7 and 8 trucks utilizing the Fort McHenry Tunnel and I-95 experienced a significant increase in travel time of 19.18%. Medium-duty vehicles also faced a rise of 14.18%. Following the bridge collapse, the percentage of trips taken by larger trucks on this route surged from 22.99% to 54.28%, while medium-duty vehicles saw an increase from 6.46% to 24.73%. Experts from Sailun Tires dive into strategies for managing tire expenses amid a challenging freight market. Tune in above or by going to RoadSigns.ttnews.com.   The two largest categories of trucks passing through the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel on I-895 experienced a 6.28% increase in travel time, whereas medium-duty trucks faced a 3.49% rise in their travel duration. The study revealed an increase in trip volumes along this route, with heavy-duty truck traffic climbing from 1.32% to 3.53%, and medium-duty vehicle usage rising from 4.84% to 17.05%. However, the number of trucks utilizing this route decreased due to limitations imposed on heavy-duty vehicles that exceed 13 feet, 6 inches in height or 8 feet in width, as well as the prohibition of all double trailers from entering the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. When trucks rerouted through the western parts of I-695, the impact on travel time was significantly more pronounced. Heavy-duty trucks experienced a staggering 36.46% increase in travel duration, while medium-duty trucks encountered an even steeper rise of 58%. The proportion of trips taken by Class 7 and 8 trucks on this route climbed from 8.63% to 16.46%, whereas medium-duty vehicles saw their share grow from 4.07% to 5.90%. The researchers analyzed over 2 million truck routes sourced from the Regional 3 Integrated Transportation Information System. The research was conducted by Yaobang Gong, Kaitai Yang, Yi Zhang, and Xianfeng Yang from the University of Maryland, along with Di Yang from Morgan State University. Alongside disrupting local transportation routes, the accident also resulted in a decrease in freight traffic at the Port of Baltimore. In March, the port handled 624,526 container tons, but by October, that number had dropped to just 526,700 container tons, according to state statistics, negatively impacting the trucking sector as well.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1991 Acura Legend L

Father Time has shown great mercy to this individual. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. When Honda launched the Acura line in 1986, they created something that the world had never seen before: a true top-tier luxury car from Japan. Sure, the Japanese had been building cars such as the Sovereign and President for their home market for years, but those were not seen in the rest of the world and were single models instead of an entire line of cars. The Acura concept proved to be quite successful and soon afterwards you saw Toyota launch Lexus and Nissan introduce Infiniti. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Among all the Acura models, the Acura Legend Coupe has always held a special place in my heart. I recall my family owning one during my childhood, and I distinctly remember being impressed by its build quality, which I felt rivaled that of the BMW 633CSi we also had back then. Now on AutoHunter, the auction platform powered by ClassicCars.com, is this 1991 Acura Legend L.  The Legend represented the pinnacle of Acura's offerings. It's akin to Acura's interpretation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and that comparison is spot on. I recall how closely it resembled our BMW 6 Series, which I believe was intentional. These vehicles are meticulously crafted and epitomized Honda's finest engineering during that era – a testament to the exceptional quality of the Acura Legend. The selling dealer describes this Legend as powered by a C32A 3.2-liter V6 mated to a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. Finished in Charcoal Granite Metallic over a Cream Ivory leather interior, this Acura is now offered with service records and a clear title. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The vehicle is reported to be in pristine original cosmetic condition, featuring entirely stock paint, exterior trim, and interior. The Charcoal Granite Metallic finish looks remarkably original and is in excellent shape. The dealer mentions some minor surface scratches scattered about, but in my opinion, this Legend could very well be the finest example I've encountered in years—an authentic show-quality original. It sits on its factory 16-inch wheels, which are fitted with 205/60 General Altimax tires. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Stepping inside the cabin, this vehicle is truly remarkable. While many Legends have seen better days, this particular one has managed to avoid that outcome, serving as a genuine time capsule. The front seats, which can be adjusted for comfort, are upholstered in the original Cream Ivory leather that appears to be in pristine condition. The dashboard, carpets, and interior trim mirror this freshness, making it feel like you’re entering a brand-new 1991 Legend. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Under the hood is the original C32A SOHC 24-valve 3.2-liter V6, which produces 202 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 210 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Like the rest of the car, it looks exceptional. When you consider that this car has only covered 82K miles from new, it all starts making sense. Then you check out the service records and you get that this is exactly what it appears to be: a true survivor and a perfectly preserved 1991 Acura. New parts include the front axle, rear shocks, timing belt, spark plugs, AC compressor, water pump, and drive belts. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. If you're in search of a genuine collector car that combines impressive show quality with an enjoyable driving experience, consider placing a bid on this exceptional early model of Japanese automotive brilliance. The auction for this 1991 Acura Legend L ends on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. (MST).
